Stock offroading

Stock Jeep having fun

  ...too much fun
(600x450:114Kb)

I didn't go offroading much before deciding that I needed to make a few modifications to make things a bit more enjoyable. My tires didn't have a lot of tread, and the clay-like mud just filled in the gaps and left me with slicks. Really really messy.

Suburban stuck on the main trail
(600x450:123Kb)

Larose Forest in the deep, deep snow. This is with the EO Trailblazers again, and while it was my only second or third day out, I ended up leading most of the trails that day! The tall thin tires and lift made me the best one to go first; my tires would dig right down through the snow, everyone else was sliding around on wide mud-boggers. What a gorgeous day! The snow was fun, I didn't get stuck once (even in over-the bumper snow) and we all had a blast.

Yes, that is an 8000lb Suburban we had to pully onto the trail. All other vehicles weighed less than half as much! This rescue took more than an hour - he slipped into a ditch on the side of a slopey trail. You can see what Mike thinks about Suburban rescue.

We met up with a couple of sled dog teams, snowmobilers, ATVers, and a couple of families in snowshoes. Very fun day.

Summer offroading

Scary amount of lean

  Will posing

This trip was all about rock crawling, the first pic is kinda scary - I had no idea the Jeep was so far leaned over. I have no idea how far it'll lean before rolling, but I have no desire to find out. I bet rolling over would lower the resale value kinda quick.

This was too cool: Flex, baby, flex
