home : fun : sailing : dec05- sam, joe, will overnighter

My brother Joe was visiting for Christmas, and we were going sailing regardless of the weather. We roped my friend Sam into coming along with us.

We were originally thinking about trying for Half-Moon Bay, but the weather wasn't right for the trip down the coast. So we sailed around the bay in fog and light winds, and camped overnight in Ayala Cove at Angel Island.

We had a very slow sail down to Ayala Cove, where we docked to check out the crazy deer munching on the yummy tourist grass. We moored in the cove overnight, drank beer, played crazy eight countdown, and basked in the bright light cast by the huge lit Christmas tree on top of the island.

The next day we had a great sail to Sausalito, across the channel to the cityfront, up to Alcatraz, and back home to Loch Lomond in San Rafael. Winds were mostly light, but we got an hour or two of 10-15 knot bliss.
