home : fun : sailing : dec05- will singlehanding
I had a rare afternoon to myself, and a quick look at the forecast had me heading out into San Pablo Bay on my own. I had never single-handed before; it's exciting!
All the ususal sailing-on-the-bay rules apply: don't get run over by any huge boats, don't run aground anywhere, don't get blown over. When singlehanding, though, you have the distinct disadvantage of no one looking out for you. It adds a bunch of new rules: wear a lifejacket at all times, don't fall overboard, don't try to eat a big sandwich while tacking, that kind of thing.

It's really hard to take your own picture on a sailboat
Just a bit of wind
Whoops, too close to a high-speed ferry
