Sailing
Sailing is fun. 'nuff said!
My first trip on a sailboat was in 1994, when my cousin Richard and I sailed across the English Channel to bring back a boatload of duty-free wine and booze from France. I never knew you sometimes want to be strapped to the mast, and I have never been able to drink cider since!
Sara and I took a collection of sailing courses in early 2005, bought a 27' Ericson, Velella, and sailed the SF Bay nearly every weekend.
In January 2006, we went to San Carlos, Mexico, for a week-long sailing course in the Sea of Cortez. It was awesome; we were engaged on the last day of the trip.
We sold Velella and bought a bigger 37' Gulfstar, Wanderlust. We spent the summer of 2006 refitting her, and we left San Francisco in October on a six-month trip to Mexico and back.
Our Mexico sailing adventure was incredible. We were married near Puerto Vallarta on December 18, 2006. We spent our honeymoon sailing slowly down to Zihuatanejo, and blitzed back north in just two short months. We returned to San Francisco on April 4, 2007.
